About Our College
The University of Delhi, established in 1922, is one of India’s most prestigious institutions of higher education. Starting with just three colleges and 750 students, it has grown to encompass 16 faculties, over 80 academic departments, and more than 80 colleges, serving a student body exceeding 700,000.
The university operates primarily from two campuses: North Campus and South Campus. North Campus houses historic colleges like St. Stephen’s, Hindu College, and Hansraj College, along with the Delhi School of Economics. South Campus, established in 1973, is situated on a 69-acre expanse near Dhaula Kuan and includes departments under the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Inter-disciplinary and Applied Sciences.
Delhi University boasts state-of-the-art infrastructure, including the University Science Instrumentation Centre (USIC), which provides advanced analytical equipment for research. The Delhi University Library System comprises 15 major libraries, offering extensive resources to students and faculty.
Notable alumni include former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen, and actors Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. With its commitment to academic rigor, research, and holistic development, the University of Delhi continues to be a leading institution in higher education.
